Aperol Spritz.
What summer tastes like.
No but really, the Aperol Spritz is the perfect summer beverage, especially when day drinking is concerned.
It’s refreshing, bubbly, subtly sweet, and pleasantly fruity with just a hit of bitterness to balance everything out.
And it’s served over ice, which is always much welcomed when it’s sweaty hot out.
Oh yeah.
So I was first introduced to the Aperol Spritz last year during my European adventures.
It’s the Venetian drink of choice, along with Bellinis, but you can find the nearly fluorescent drink in other areas of Europe too.
Heck to the yes.
And just look at that festive, bright orange color?
Count me in.
Oh and did you know that Prosecco is involved?
Well it sure is! Along with orange flavored Aperol, an aperitif, which includes hints of rhubarb plus other lovely plants I’ve never heard of.
How exotic.
Top her off with a splash of pure sparkling water (just not too big a splash, we don’t want to dilute the alcohol thaat much) and an orange slice, then you’re set to start sipping.
Spritz me up!
P.S. Taste your drank then adjust the ingredient proportions to your liking. I’m a fan of Prosecco so I do a 3:1 ratio but some people do a straight up 1:1 ratio for a sweeter, slightly thicker bev. You do you.
P.P.S. I couldn’t find any oranges in my local market of choice (they’re actually a winter fruit) hence the lack of orange slices in my photo. Poo. It still tasted magical though, I promise.
