It’s definitely been way too long since I last shared a cocktail recipe with you.
Clearly any time of year is perfect for cocktails, although they are especially appealing during the warm summer months.
Icy, refreshing beverage over hereee please!
I often times just go with “health conscious” vodka or gin plus a splash of whatever flavor LaCroix I have on hand anddd a hefty squeeze of fresh lime or lemon juice.
But sometimes I want a special boozy concoction.
Something a little extra.
Like a Beyonce beverage.
So, I spotted this recipe from Bon Appetit not too long ago and just had to whip up my own version.
Because gin is my very fave and I’ve been loving ginger kombucha as well.
And kombucha is good for you… right?
Right.
Btw, if you’re like kombuch-whaa it’s a fermented tea that’s fizzy and funky and freakin delicious.
(You can find the stuff in a clear glass bottle located in the refrigerated section of your grocery store… or at least in my grocery store, don’t know about you.)
But before you swoop up a jumbo case of the drank from Costco, sample a single bottle because it’s not for everybody.
Although most peeps find it pleasing.
Anyway.
This cocktail right here is composed of a proper shot of gin (2 ounces, that’s right), 1 splash of citrusy Aperol (because Campari is a bit too bitter for my sensitive taste buds at times), zesty lemon juice (the fresh kind of course), ginger kombucha aka the best flavor booch, and a summery lemon wedge or twist if you know how to work a knife.
Carefully stir (there are bubbles involved after all) then serve over lots of ice in a tallish glass so you can fit in all that liquid gold.
Cheerz!
P.S. The original recipe does call for Campari instead of Aperol, so if you happen to have that stuff on hand (hello Negronis) please go ahead and use it.
P.P.S. I heart GT’s ginger kombucha. That stuff is delish.
P.P.P.S. Is it embarrassing to say that I felt a wee bit tipsy after drinking some booch on an empty stomach before? It does have a tiny bit of alcohol… fermentation you know. Could just be the placebo effect but talk about a lightweight. Ha.
