I usually prefer a tall glass of good ole H2O over all other beverages.
Unless we’re talking fruity cocktails.
In that case I’ll take a very tall glass of vodka with a splash of juice. (If fresh fruit isn’t available, that is.)
Orange juice is just too standard.
Too boring.
Too predictable.
Cherry though, is an unexpected, yet welcome choice. Plus, it’s a beautiful deep red.
Bubbles are always a plus.
So why not add a bit of lemon lime soda… or even better, some Prosecco.
Prosecco is the best of the bubbles.
It’s almost too easy to drink.
Almost.
And then you have to add some interest to this cocktail.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s already pretty darn interesting.
But.
Some zesty citrus or bright herbs will really make this thing epic.
Since it’s summer, let’s go with basil.
Time to summarize this drinkable masterpiece:
Chilled vodka mingles effortlessly with sweet-tart cherry juice, bubbly Prosecco and fresh basil.
You might be able to mingle a little more effortlessly after drinking one of these too. (Ahem, one of these, not five… they’re kinda very strong.)
P.S. Don’t forget to chill your vodka, juice and Prosecco! The ice helps a bit, but room temperature cocktails are a little less than exciting.
