We all know salads have the potential to be… boring.
(Don’t lie to yourself, they really can be rather dull.)
Wilty greens + dry carrots + bottled ranch dressing = what iz this crap??
But.
Salads can also be mouthwatering and irresistible.
It’s all about the ingredients. (Well duhhh.)
And have you ever thought about how many types of salads are actually out there?
Fruit Salads: Juicy and refreshing. I prefer just cutting up a bunch of fruit then digging right in. Added sugar is definitely not necessary here. And don’t even get me started on mixing in flavored yogurt. Blagh!
Potato Salads: Creamy and comforting. Just do yourself a favor and go easy on the mayo. Fresh herbs are a must! As well as hard boiled eggs. Yum.
Pasta Salads: Flavorful and light. It’s all about the veggies. And cheese… as always.
Bread Salads: Yes, it’s a thing. Think crunchy bread cubes mixed with fresh, juicy tomatoes, garlic and herbs. Oh yeah.
Plus a bunch of other salads like grain salads, straight up veggie salads, tuna salads, (you get the point).
Today, the star of the show is a mean green salad.
It’s actually quite nice, not mean at all.
Organic mixed baby greens, sweet caramelized onion, nutty toasted almonds, juicy sun gold tomatoes, tangy feta, bright basil and flavorful balsamic vinaigrette take home the prize.
The Miss Congeniality of salads?
I think so!
P.S. Toast those almonds. If you don’t the salad police will come and arrest you. hehe
P.P.S. I know I know, basil didn’t make it in the title, but that doesn’t mean it’s loved any less.
P.P.P.S. I use Drew’s Rosemary Balsamic salad dressing. (It’s bomb!)
