Yeah it’s not exactly cherry season…
But it sure is chocolate saison!
Let’s be real for a second though–chocolate season is a year-round thing.
And making a point to enjoy yourself is most definitely an every day thing.
Soooo.
Why don’t you go ahead and do yourself a little flavor favor.
Blend up frozen dark sweet cherries (sans pits but of course) with chilled freckled banana, a generous spoonful of cacao powder, pure vanilla extract, along with nutrition boosters chia seeds and pea protein powder. Don’t forget your subtly nutty oat milk to help bring everything together.
We’re not done yet.
Oh no.
Sprinkle aka dump some chopped dark chocolate on top along with a few juicy cherries before going to town on your drinkable dessert for breakfast creation.
P.S. No the chia seeds and pea protein aren’t necessary. I just appreciate a lil extra fiber and, you guessed it, protein.
P.P.S. If you want a creamier, richer treat, swap in chilled canned coconut milk for the oat milk. Now we’re talking hehe.
P.P.P.S. Sweet tooth having her moment? A little drizzle of real deal maple syrup right in the blender is welcome.
P.P.P.P.S. And no you don’t have to add the chocolate topping but why wouldn’t you??
Vegan Dark Chocolate Cherry Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups frozen dark sweet cherries (pits removed)
- 1 cup refrigerated banana slices (1 medium-large banana)
- 4 teaspoons cacao powder
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
- 1 tablespoon pure pea protein powder (optional)
- 1/2 cup unsweetened unflavored oat milk (I use Silk) or coconut amond milk blend (I use Califa)
Toppings:
- Finely chopped dark chocolate (optional)
- Cherries (optional)
Instructions
- Blend until smooth.
- Top with dark chocolate and cherries, if you wish.
