Basic Blueberry Acai Smoothie Bowl

Basic Blueberry Acai Smoothie Bowl | Living Healthy in Seattle

Life is about learning from your mistakes.

Like not to buy a $14 package of goji berries.

Ever.

Again.

$14 = a nice bottle of refreshing, perfectly bubbly Prosecco, which I always thoroughly enjoy consuming.

$14 also = a small pack of dried, hard berries that taste like sour flowers and get all stuck in your teeth.

But I’m all for trying new, healthy foods, and usually I do not regret my expensive edible purchases…

Coconut oil is soo versatile and sooo tasty.

Rehydrate your lips, or spread the tropical stuff on toasted whole grain bread before mashing on lots of creamy avocado.

Medjool dates actually do taste like dessert.

Stuff them with peanut butter than drench those suckers in melted chocolate. Thank you Half Baked Harvest!

Nutritional yeast really is popcorn’s best friend.

Savory midnight snacking game on point. Drunchies be gone!

And acai easily turns into energizing, fruity smoothies.

Or smoothie bowls since I’m choosing to jump on yet another food-related bandwagon.

I usually prefer thicker smoothies anyway, so smoothie bowls are right up my alley.

There are a couple options here.

You can whip up a regular smoothie and drink it from a glass, mug or sippy cup.

Or you can create a smoothie bowl, which is a thick smoothie that you actually eat out of a bowl, with a spoon! And there are a lot of topping choices.

Toppings are always worth getting excited about.

Simply blend together creamy low-fat plain yogurt (use a non-dairy variety if you’re vegan), unsweetened original almond milk (if you’re going for a regular smoothie), ripe banana, plump frozen blueberries, frozen unsweetened acai, plus sweetener of your choice. Honey, maple syrup or agave work well! If you’re going with the bowl option, top your healthy blended mixture with chia seeds, hemp hearts, goji berries (because waste is never okay), more yogurt and banana slices.

P.S. Toasted coconut flakes and toasted almond pieces are also tasty toppings.

P.P.S. I need a new blender. Vitamix please? That’s not going to happen anytime soon since I finally just got a new phone. Hooray for more storage space and better photos!

P.P.P.S. Goji berries are not all that bad. I just prefer Prosecco. It’s really not even fair to compare the two.

P.P.P.P.S. Personally I don’t add any sweetener, but it’s up to you!
