Savory Oatmeal

Savory Oatmeal | Living Healthy in Seattle

As you can probably tell, I’m on a bit of a grains kick these days.

Don’t worry though, a cocktail recipe shall come your way soon.

Think fresh, juicy watermelon and vodka.

Now that you’re dreaming about summery cocktails let’s bring back the focus to… oatmeal.

Because oatmeal is clearly more exciting than cocktails.

I’m being serious.

(Kind of.)

This oatmeal is really something special though.

It’s savory.

And there’s a fried egg involved.

Fried eggs make life better in every single way.

If you’re still puzzled by the concept of savory oatmeal, let me explain.

A comforting bowl of oatmeal is topped with a perfectly crispy fried egg, sauteed garlic, sweet teriyaki sauce, toasted sesame seeds, fresh scallions and spicy red pepper flakes.

Hmm these ingredients are sounding familiar…

That’s right, this recipe is a bit similar to my Healthy Veggie Fried Rice.

But come on, it’s still worth trying. ๐Ÿ™‚

P.S. If you want to make real oatmeal (not the quick-cooking kind) this recipe would turn out even more awesome. I’m just lazy.

P.P.S. Yeah it’s summer. And hot oatmeal usually isn’t consumed during this time of year… so eat it at 3 in the morning when it’s not blazing hot out. Or just down a refreshing glass of Watermelon Vodka Slush right after. ๐Ÿ˜‰
