I’m really eking out the last whispers of summer, if you couldn’t already tell.

Let’s just call it living in the moment ha.

My glass is half full… of this creamy, deliciously sweet Blueberry Nectarine Crisp Breakfast Shake!

I’m beyond stoked to have a hefty supply of frozen nectarine slices from this summer’s bounty.

So I had to whip up another breakfast-meets-dessert treat to keep the sunshine vibes going strong.

(Don’t you worry, apples, pears, pumpkin and squash will have their turn soon enough.)

All you have to do is blend softened soaked oats with frozen plump blueberries and luscious nectarines, along with half a chilled banana for extra creaminess + natural sweetness, nutty almond butter, hemp hearts (we love protein and fiber!), pure vanilla extract, and fragrant ground cinnamon.

Top your glass off with crunchy toasted pecans and granola for some true crisp action.

Not to mention even more flavor and a beautiful contrast in/of (whatever) texture.

Dessert ahem breakfast is served!

P.S. I had coconut oat milk on hand but plain oat milk will work just fine. I actually prefer it tbh.

P.P.S. Yess if you have peaches instead of nectarines feel free to utilize those suckers. Just peachy.

P.P.P.S. I still don’t know the real difference between a smoothie and a shake and have probably been throwing those words around incorrectly for years now… call me what you want. But I do know that a crisp contains oats. So I got something right lol.

P.P.P.P.S. One last thing, thank you for dealing with the inundation of annoyingly similar photos. I’m not always indecisive but when I am…

Blueberry Nectarine Crisp Breakfast Shake

Prep Time 5 minutes
Resting Time 2 hours
Total Time 2 hours
Servings 1

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened, unflavored oat milk (I used coconut oat milk... which I guess isn't "unflavored" after all)
  • 1 cup frozen nectarine slices
  • 3/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 cup refrigerated banana slices (about 1/2 large banana)
  • 1 tablespoon salted natural almond butter (no added oil or sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon hemp hearts
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 5 dashes ground cinnamon

Toppings

  • Roughly chopped toasted pecans
  • Granola

Instructions

  • Soak the oats in the milk until softened, or overnight (refrigerated).
  • Blend everything until smooth. Add more milk if necessary—the soaked oats provided enough "liquid" for me.
  • Top with toasted pecans and granola.
