Golden milk has been a trendy little thing for a while now.
Turmeric is the star of the show, with a handful of other spices serving as supporting acts.
Golden milk lattes are the most popular form of consumption—a turmeric spice mix steamed with your milk of choice—although a lot of edible treats can easily follow this golden theme.
Soooo.
I decided to whip up a batch of cozy, flavorful golden milk oats.
Your taste buds will probably want to tell your brain that you’re consuming a sweet curry of sorts, which isn’t completely wrong.
It might take a minute to grow on you, after the potential sweet meets savory confusion fades away.
I’m really selling this idea, ehh?
Any who.
Simply simmer quick cooking oats with a couple chopped up plump medjool dates (for some natural sweetness), pure vanilla extract, ground turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and coriander, plus salt and pepper to taste—word on the street is that black pepper helps with turmeric absorption, so there you go.
Stir in a splash of toasted coconut almond milk blend until creamy (oat milk will do), then cover and rest until ready.
Top your bowl of piping hot oats with diced juicy pear, a drizzle of real deal maple syrup and a sprinkle of crunchy granola for an extra little treat.
Ta-da!
Boujee breakfast is served.
P.S. I advise not to make this a breakfast in bed affair because turmeric has the potential to stain. If you’re a spiller (like myself) keep anything and everything white at a safe distance.
P.P.S. A little dollop of almond butter would be a lovely addition.
P.P.P.S. I highly recommend this Double Coconut Granola with Pecans & Almonds because it is mouth-wateringly delicious and damn near perfection. Don’t mind me as I have a not-so-humble moment over here.
