Woo buddy this right here is the ultimate sweet and salty satisfying snack if there ever was one!

I mean.

We have olive oil popcorn drizzled with luscious melted dark chocolate and topped with nutty, salted roasted macadamia nuts + gooey Medjool date pieces!

Oh. boy.

You know I thoroughly enjoy making messes but this here snack is best when given your undivided attention, unless you don’t mind unintentionally smearing melted chocolate on your phone, laptop, tv remote, PJ’s, Connect 4, and wine bottle.

If you do choose to go the risqué multitasking route maybeee don’t set up any FaceTime dates while noshing because chocolate goatees are not so cute.

Anyway!

If you don’t have macadamia nuts on hand or can’t fathom spending an arm and a leg on the tasty fat bombs, here are a few other yummy fruit and nut combos that pair exceptionally well with dark chocolate.

peanuts + raisins

almonds + dried cherries

almonds + dried apricots

walnuts + banana chips

As always, make sure your nuts are roasted or toasted for maximum nutty deliciousness!

P.S. If you don’t want to make a big ole mess instead of melting the chocolate you can simply chop that ish up too and toss it in with the rest of your snacky ingredients.

Or

Pop your bowl of melty snack time goodness in the freezer for a few minutes until the chocolate hardens. I haven’t tried this (and don’t know how I feel about chill popcorn to be honest) but you do you!

P.P.S. You could easily use plain microwaved (or even homemade!!) popcorn to make this sweet, salty dream come true. Just make sure buttah isn’t involved if you care about it being vegan, otherwise, go right ahead.

P.P.P.S. And don’t you dare use Hershey’s or another crap fake chocolate for this snack. Food snobs unite! But really, your taste buds and tummy will thank you.

P.P.P.P.S. The date pieces in my photos look a littleee like bacon bits but I can assure you that is indeed fruit, not piggy.

Olive Oil Popcorn with Dark Chocolate, Macadamia Nuts & Dates

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups prepared sea salt olive oil popcorn (I used a bag of Trader Joe's Organic Popcorn with Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil)
  • 25 grams (2 squares) high-quality dark chocolate (I used 71%), melted
  • 1/4 cup chopped salted roasted macadamia nuts
  • 1 large soft Medjool date; pit removed, chopped or torn into small pieces

Instructions
 

  • Put the popcorn in a medium bowl.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate evenly over the popcorn.
  • Top the chocolate covered popcorn with the chopped macadamia nuts and date.
