So I hopped on the maca trend last year and picked up a bag of the powder from Whole Foods to add to my smoothies.

It’s taking me a while to work through, so here we are with another maca recipe!

Because wasting is not an option in my kitchen.

No siree Bob!

Now that I’ve officially sounded like a grandma let’s just get to the recipe.

We all know strawberries and bananas are a classic combo so those fruity tooties are the base of our bowl, in frozen form that is.

I like to add some sort of veg to my smoothies if possible, so I tossed in a handful of frozen cauliflower.

Zucchini would work as well!

I just didn’t want the green flecks in this pretty pink bowl.

For aesthetic reasons.

And no you won’t taste the veg, don’t worry.

Now it’s time to add some nutritious hemp hearts, creamy almond butter (optional, but highly recommended), caramel-reminiscent maca powder, pure maple syrup, original oat milk, real deal vanilla extract, fragrant ground cinnamon, and a pinch of pink sea salt.

Pulse, blend, taste, adjust, pulse, blend until smooth and creamy, then spoon it up!

Top with sliced fresh, frozen or freeze-dried strawberries, perfectly ripened banana, nutty toasted walnuts and almonds + more hemp hearts.

Dig in!

P.S. I made the mistake of adding the “suggested serving size” of 1 tablespoon maca to my first bowl and boy my taste buds were a little overwhelmed. So please, if you’re not a regular maca consumer start with 1 teaspoon of the stuff.

P.P.S. DO NOT try using fresh/raw cauliflower as I did the first time around. Your bowl will be grainy which is yuck! Frozen cauliflower is actually cooked a bit before it’s frozen—which I did not think about—so it will make for a creamier bowl, sans graininess. Yes there were a phew whoopsies involved with this recipe ha.

P.P.P.S. Toast your nuts!! I can’t stress this enough. The flavors exponentially multiply, if that even makes sense. My math skills are a little rusty.
